This is a 17-year-old Speyside single malt from Glenfarclas, part of the distillery's Aged Range, in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV. It matured for the whole 17 years in Oloroso sherry casks.
The sherry character runs from plum and date to creamy caramel, sweet malt and nutmeg, with heather, tobacco, dry oak spice and a very faint note of smoke. It is chill-filtered.
The nose brings roasted hazelnuts and almonds, stewed plums, dates, malt sweets, buttery toffee, spicy oak and heather. The palate is rich and creamy, with caramel, nutmeg and sweet malt after dried fruit. The finish is long and increasingly dry, nutty and spiced.
