Glenfarclas – 185th Anniversary (70cl, 46%)

Glenfarclas 185th Anniversary is a Speyside single malt released by the distillery to mark 185 years since its founding. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, and the outturn was 6000 bottles. It is a vatting of ex-sherry casks from several different decades. The nose is usually described as showing less sherry influence than other Glenfarclas bottlings, with more emphasis on spice and pepper: tea, cinnamon, black pepper, vanilla and nuts. The palate starts firm and oily, with dried fruit, orange, chocolate and mint. The finish is medium in length, with hints of coffee, spice and grapefruit.
