Glenfarclas – 185th Anniversary (70cl, 46%)

Glenfarclas 185th Anniversary marks the 185 years since the distillery received its official licence in May 1836. Distillery Manager Callum Fraser and Managing Director Douglas Belford chose casks from the last six decades, some holding whisky more than 50 years old. The older casks add complexity and the younger ones bring fruit and freshness. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, with 6,000 bottles released. The nose is plum jam, buttered toasted tea cake, festive spices and a hint of waxy orange. The palate has Christmas cake, mint chocolate, stewed berries, strong coffee and plum. The finish is long, with spiced fruit compote, blackcurrant jelly and mahogany.
