This Speyside single malt marks 190 years of Glenfarclas Distillery, which was founded in 1836 and has been owned by the Grant family since 1865. It is bottled at 51.4% ABV in a 70cl bottle, in natural colour.
The whisky was matured entirely in Oloroso sherry casks.
The nose brings raisins, sultanas and dried figs with orange peel, dark honey and fruit cake, then toasted nuts, cinnamon and polished oak. The palate is full-bodied, with dried fruits, dates, dark chocolate, treacle and orange marmalade, plus nutmeg and sherry-soaked oak. The finish is long and warming, with dried fruit, dark chocolate, sweet spice and mature oak.
