Glenfarclas 190th Anniversary Edition marks the distillery's 190 years. It is a Speyside single malt bottled at 51.4%, in natural colour and without chill filtration, in an outturn of 15,000 bottles.
The manager, Callum Fraser, and the director, Douglas Belford, chose 78 casks for it, all ex-sherry, from a family-owned bodega in Jerez. The whiskies were distilled in the 1970s and 1980s.
The nose is apricot, candied orange and raisin, with caramel, milk chocolate and a little tobacco. The palate offers toffee, caramel, red apple, dark Christmas cake and chocolate. The finish is very long, fading to oak tannins and warm baking spices.
