This is a 31 year old Glenfarclas distilled in 1966 and bottled by the SMWS as 1.87, at 52.6% ABV. The colour is dark mahogany, almost coffee.
The nose combines dark demerara, liquorice, malted barley and cherry liqueur, with chocolate. Neat, the palate is massive and extremely punchy. With water it becomes gentle and civilised, and the liquorice comes through alongside dried fruits such as figs and bananas. The finish is extremely long, heavy and concentrated, with liquorice and a rummy note.
