Glenfarclas – 1996 Family Cask #852 (70cl)

A single malt from Glenfarclas in Speyside, drawn from a fourth-fill sherry butt after more than two decades of maturation. It was bottled on 28 July 2022 as a Family Cask release, in an edition of 582 bottles, and comes in a wooden box with a small booklet on the history of the distillery. The colour is a rich amber with golden highlights. The nose offers dried fruits, orange peel and subtle oak spice. On the palate come toffee, figs, toasted nuts and gentle sherry sweetness, with hints of dark chocolate and warming spice. The finish is long, with lingering malt, soft vanilla and gentle wood.
