A 21-year-old Speyside single malt from Glenfarclas, an official bottling from the distillery, which has been in the Grant family since 1865. Oloroso sherry cask maturation gives it a fruity, spicy depth. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle, with no added colour, and comes in a tube.
The nose combines sherry fruit and tropical fruit with nutmeg and almond, a light citrus accent, vanilla sweetness and a fine hint of smoke. The palate is full and round, with melon, mango, apricot and ripe peach, then ginger, nutmeg and Szechuan pepper. The finish is long and soft, with chocolate and fine smoke. Chilli powder and white pepper tingle first, then drying tannins follow.
