A 26 year old Glenfarclas from Speyside, distilled in 1970 and bottled in 1997 by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as cask 1.77. It was matured in a single first-fill Oloroso sherry hogshead, which gave 176 bottles in 70cl size.
In the Society's code, the first number identifies the distillery and the second the cask. Glenfarclas matures its whisky in ex-sherry casks and is one of the few distilleries to retain stills heated with direct fire.
