This is a 40 year old single malt from Glenfarclas, bottled at 43%. It spent all forty years maturing in Oloroso sherry casks.
The nose is intense, with sherry, dark chocolate, raisins, a hint of leather and cognac. The palate is a complex mix of English Christmas cake, tobacco, citrus, chocolate brownies and coffee beans, with a touch of cinnamon and black pepper. The finish carries sherry, caramel and orange marmalade, with a light ginger warmth.
