This is a Glenfarclas Family Cask from Speyside, distilled in 1965 and bottled on 22 February 2012 at 53.7% ABV. It matured for 47 years in a sherry butt, cask 4502, and was released as a limited edition of 509 bottles.
The nose offers walnuts, shoe polish, toffee, raisins, prunes and coffee, with leather, fresh lovage and parsley, Worcestershire sauce and sesame. The palate is powerful and oily, with liquorice, dried fruit, toasted nuts, toffee, dark chocolate, nutmeg, smoked sausage and cooked fruit. The finish is long and warm, notably fresh for its age and not drying.
