Glenfarclas – The Family Casks 1997 (Cask No 5964) (70cl, 58.9%)

This is a single cask Glenfarclas from The Family Casks series, a Speyside single malt distilled in 1997 and matured in a single sherry butt, cask 5964. It was bottled on 11 June 2021 at a natural cask strength of 58.9%, in natural colour, and the outturn is 565 bottles. The nose is sultanas, dark cherry and caramelised fruit with polished oak, toffee, cocoa, cinnamon and citrus zest. The palate is rich and bold, with sherried raisins, fruit cake, roasted nuts and dark chocolate, then oak spice, sweet malt and orange oil. The finish is long and warming, with dried fruit, dark chocolate, spice and mature oak.
