Glenfiddich 12 Year Old Caoran Reserve is a peated Speyside single malt, bottled at 40% ABV. Caoran is Gaelic for peat embers, and the name points to the smoke that sits alongside the distillery's usual fruit-led style.
The nose is soft malt and cereal with ground hazelnuts, vanilla and gentle oak, and a perfumed smoke rather than a punchy one. The palate is sweet and malty with light fruit, barley, honey and toasted nuts, while wood spice and smoke build slowly. The finish is lingering and warming, with perfumed smoke, a faint medicinal edge and green herbal notes.
