Glenfiddich Bourbon Barrel Reserve is a 14 year old Speyside single malt, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle.
It matures for fourteen years in former bourbon barrels of American oak, then finishes in heavily charred new American oak casks, so fresh wood is added to the long maturation in used casks. It is not a smoky whisky.
The nose is led by vivid vanilla, with fine citrus, caramelised brown sugar, cinnamon, baked apple and ripe summer fruit. The palate is rich and sweet, with creamy toffee, wood spice, candied orange peel and toasted oak. The finish is long and stays sweet.
