Glenfiddich 21 Year Old Gran Reserva is a Speyside single malt finished in Caribbean rum casks, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It matures for 21 years in American oak, then spends four months in hand-selected casks that previously held Gran Reserva rum. Malt Master Brian Kinsman chooses each finishing cask personally.
The nose has intense vanilla sweetness with floral notes and a touch of banana, along with fig, rich toffee, fresh leather and oak. The palate starts soft, then turns lively, drier and peppery, with oak, a hint of smoke, lime, ginger and exotic spices. The finish is very long, warming, dry and spicy.
