Gran Cortes is a 22 year old Speyside single malt from Glenfiddich, made as a China exclusive and bottled in a 70cl bottle. The name means grand palaces, a nod to Spanish royal courts, and it follows Glenfiddich's Grand Cru.
The whisky was finished in Palo Cortado sherry casks from Andalucia, selected by the distillery's malt master, and it has a dark red hue.
The nose is warming sherry spice and dried fruit with caramel, vanilla, sweet nuts and citrus. The palate has oak, vanilla, a Christmas cake character, a hint of char, dried fruit, almonds and orange. The finish is sweet and warming, with sherry and oak.
