Glenfiddich Grande Couronne is a Speyside single malt matured for 26 years in American and European oak casks. It then spends a further two years in rare French Cognac casks chosen by Malt Master Brian Kinsman, an unusually long Cognac finish. It is bottled at 43.8% in a 70cl bottle.
The name is French for great crown and places the whisky in Glenfiddich's Grand Series. The extra time in Cognac casks deepens the sweet, toasted oak and the velvety texture.
The nose is lively, with toasted oak sweetness, French patisserie, fresh tarte tatin and buttery choux pastry. The palate is deep, soft and richly sweet, with cafe creme and gentle brown sugar. The finish is very long and ends on sweet oak.
