Glenfiddich Grande Couronne is a 26 year old Speyside single malt, bottled at 43.8% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky was matured in American and European oak casks, then finished for two years in French Cognac casks. The Cognac influence brings sweetness, spice and a subtle rancio note, while the French oak adds toasted sweetness and gentle tannin to the orchard fruit character of the distillery.
The nose offers baked apple, apricot and pear with toasted oak, honey and almond pastry. On the palate come dried apricot, sultana, nutmeg and creamy vanilla, and the finish is long, with sweet spice, polished oak and a little cocoa.
