A Glenfiddich Pure Malt Special Old Reserve from the 1970s, a Speyside single malt bottled at 40% in a one litre bottle by William Grant & Sons. The label carries the line 'Established 1887' and records that the first spirit was distilled on Christmas Day 1887. Malts of this period came from direct-fired stills, and the style is described as a touch smokier than the smoother malts made today.
