Glenfiddich Snow Phoenix is a Speyside single malt bottled at 47.6% ABV. It is a vatting of American oak and Oloroso sherry casks, and it came about after warehouse roofs collapsed in the 2010 snowstorm and exposed casks to the winter air.
The character is creamy, fruity and lightly smoky, with sherry depth alongside brighter notes. The nose offers vanilla, poached pear and a hint of anise. On the palate come apple purée, roasted apples, heather honey and crystallised ginger, and the finish is long, with lemon, apple and a sweet sherry warmth.
