Glenglassaugh – 1976 34 Year Old Single Cask (70cl, 45.9%)

This is a 34 year old single cask Glenglassaugh from the Highlands, distilled in 1976 and matured in a bourbon cask. It was bottled in 2010 at 45.9% for The Alba Trail, in a 70cl bottle. Ninety-six bottles from the cask were later kept back and released under the "Old Bottle Flavoured" name. After nearly twelve years in glass, the whisky has developed the sweet, herbal character often linked to old bottlings, sage among it. The nose is full of herbs: sage, eucalyptus and fennel. The palate is salty and sweet, with kitchen herbs, tea, gooseberry and lychee. The finish brings sweet oak, suede and grapefruit.
