Glengoyne – 17 Years Scottish Oak (70cl, 51.6%)

Glengoyne Scottish Oak 17 Years Old is a Highland single malt from the distillery's Oak Masters' Series, a limited edition bottled at 51.6% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky matured first in refill bourbon and refill sherry casks, then spent up to two years in casks made from new Scottish oak. The timber came from sustainably managed woodland around Killearn, a few miles from the distillery, and each cask was assessed individually so that the finishing time could be adjusted. The nose offers heather honey, lime, stewed pear and raspberry, with almonds and tropical fruit. On the palate there is toasted oak, oat and raisin biscuits, vanilla, warming ginger and a little nutmeg. The finish is long and gentle, with nuts, vanilla, light tannins and sweet spice.
