Glengoyne – 1984/2021 36 Year Old The Russell Cask #1549 (70cl, 50.7%)

This is a 36 year old single cask Glengoyne, distilled on 21 December 1984 and bottled in 2021 at its natural cask strength of 50.7%. It comes in a 70cl bottle and is non-chill-filtered with no added colour. The whisky matured in a refill sherry butt, and the edition is a family one. Peter, Leonard and Tom Russell, three generations of the family behind Ian Macleod Distillers, chose the cask together. It gave 402 bottles. The nose offers strawberry and lime sorbet with mint, lemon meringue, stewed apple, coconut, sweet cinnamon and leather. The palate is silky, rich and creamy, with tropical fruit, dried banana chips and chocolate cherry. The finish is long and gently sherried and spicy, with oak.
