Glengoyne – 25 Year Old Sherry Casks (70cl, 48%)

Glengoyne 25 Year Old is a Highland single malt bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and with no added colour. It matured fully in European oak sherry casks, most of them filled with whisky for the first time after their sherry use. There is no later finish. Glengoyne has made whisky since 1833, dries its barley with air rather than peat smoke, and distils twice in three stills. The nose shows red berries, dark cherries and blackcurrants with ripe grapes, brown sugar and old leather. On the palate, strawberries and stewed fruit meet orange marmalade, with oak, cinnamon and cardamom adding spice. The finish is long, with liquorice and soft spices, growing steadily drier.
