Glengoyne Legacy Chapter Two is the second bottling in the Legacy series, a Highland single malt at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It honours Peter Russell, chairman and founder of Ian Macleod Distillers, who bought Glengoyne in 2003.
The whisky combines spirit matured for at least three years in first-fill bourbon casks, first-fill European oak sherry casks, first-fill American oak sherry casks and hand-selected refill oak. Bourbon casks make up the largest share, at 48%.
The nose is full of vanilla and banana, with caramel, peach, coconut, ripe fruit and a touch of lime and mint. The palate is creamy and balanced, with apple crumble, honey, green grape and gentle spice. The finish is warm and syrupy, with sweet oak and dates.
