This is a 24 year old Lowland single malt from Glenkinchie, distilled in 1991 and part of the 2016 Diageo Special Releases. It is a cask strength US release, one of 5,928 bottles, in a 75cl bottle.
It was matured in refill European oak butts, which give it more body than younger Glenkinchie expressions while keeping the distillery's elegant character.
The nose is sweet citrus, sugar flowers and royal icing, with a hint of Eccles cake. The palate is spicy, with mushroom, sultanas, apple squash and tropical fruit juice. The finish brings sugared almonds, aniseed warmth and juicy orange.
