Glenlivet – 1939 Gordon & MacPhail 1970s

This is a Glenlivet from 1939, a Speyside single malt bottled in the 1970s by Gordon & MacPhail of Elgin. It was released as a small batch. Gordon & MacPhail's Glenlivets from 1939 are described as smokier and peatier than many malts today, with an equally intense, rich fruit character alongside. Distilling in Scotland began to slow that year because of wartime constraints, and Gordon & MacPhail were already stockpiling casks to mature in their warehouses.
