This is a 50-year-old Glenlivet Speyside single malt, distilled in 1940 and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail around 1990. It comes in a crystal decanter, at 75cl and 40% ABV.
It is one of the earliest of the Gordon & MacPhail Book of Kells bottlings, which carry labels illustrated in the style of the famous Celtic calligraphy manuscript. The whisky was distilled in 1940, a time when most of Scotland's distilleries were in mothballs.
