Glenlivet – 1948 Gordon & MacPhail 1980s (75cl, 40%)

This is a Glenlivet distilled in 1948, a Speyside single malt bottled by the Elgin independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail at some point in the 1980s. It comes in a 75cl bottle at 40% ABV. Glenlivet from the late 1940s is described as having less peat than the whisky of the immediate postwar years, while keeping an oily, fruity complexity. The tasting notes mention soft peat and plenty of fruit, alongside aged characters of rancio, leather, balsamico and wax.
