Glenrothes – 11 Years Discovery Label Gordon & MacPhail

This is an 11 year old Glenrothes single malt from Speyside, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for its Discovery range. The range sorts its malts into three groups, Sherry, Smoky and Bourbon, as a guide to flavour, and this one sits in the Sherry group. It is described as a sherried whisky with plenty of fruit and chocolate character. The nose brings cinnamon butter, chocolate-covered toffee and roasted malt, with dried sherry fruits and baking spices. On the palate come berry jam on fresh toast, perhaps slightly burnt, with stewed fruit and more cinnamon. The finish offers orange peel, a hint of raisins and melted dark chocolate.
