X is a 14-year-old Glenrothes, bottled at 50.1% ABV in a 35cl bottle. It is the final release in a three-part series: X, XX and XXX.
It is a vatting of 40% 1997 and 60% 2008 Glenrothes, all fully matured in sherry casks. The colour is a deep mahogany with amber highlights.
Dark chocolate, raisins and dried figs lead the nose, with a touch of spicy oak. Plums and cherries meet cinnamon and cloves on a creamy palate, and the finish is long and warming, with dried fruit, spice and a little oak.
