Glentauchers – 1990 31 Year Old Gordon & MacPhail Connoisseurs Choice Single Cask 14520 (70cl, 53.8%)

This is a 31-year-old Speyside single malt from Glentauchers, distilled in 1990 and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in 2021 for their Connoisseurs Choice Cask Strength series. It comes in a 70cl bottle at 53.8%. The whisky was matured in a large refill sherry puncheon, cask 14520, which gave 505 bottles. It is bottled without colouring or chill filtration. The nose is rich fruitcake with cinnamon spice and dark toffee. On the palate, stewed fruit and bitter dark chocolate are balanced by cracked black pepper. The finish is full, with forest fruit, clove and orange.
