This is a 2008 vintage Glentauchers, a Highland single malt matured for 13 years in oak casks and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail at 46% ABV for its Distillery Labels range. In that range the company fills new-make spirit from Scottish distilleries into its own casks.
On the nose are stewed apples, vanilla pod and crystallised orange peel, with raspberry compote and cinnamon. The palate brings apple and pear with demerara sugar, then clove, tangerine, aniseed and a little white pepper. The finish is medium-bodied with lingering spice and walnut.
