A 31-year-old Glentauchers from Speyside, distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2022 by Gordon & MacPhail in its Connoisseurs Choice range. It matured in a single refill American hogshead, cask 12488, which produced 172 bottles.
The nose pairs juicy apple and ripe pear with creamy toffee and delicate floral touches. On the palate there is pineapple, mango and papaya, with a fine peppery spice running through the tropical fruit. The finish is long, built on roasted almonds with a faint hint of star anise.
