Glenugie – 20 Year Old 1968 Sestante Bird Label (75cl, 43%)

This is a Highland single malt from Glenugie, distilled in 1968 and matured for 20 years in sherry casks. It was bottled by Sestante for their series of labels featuring birds, at 43% in a 75cl bottle. The nose is honeyed, waxy and very slightly smoky, with shoe polish, butter, seaweed and oranges, then leather, tobacco, old books, tar, mint, eucalyptus and passion fruit. On the palate come crystallised oranges, salt, dried ginger, plum jam, Turkish delight and orange liqueur, with pepper and fine tannins. The finish is long and saltier still.
