Gold Bar Black Double Cask is a straight bourbon in a 750ml bottle, released as a distiller's selection. It was first aged in new American oak barrels, then finished in former wine casks from Napa Valley.
It comes in a matte-black gold bar decanter with a collector's coin set into the front. The colour is a deep copper with ruby reflections.
The nose combines vanilla bean, toasted oak, blackberry compote, cinnamon and nutmeg. The palate is silky, with caramel, dark cherry and cocoa, plus sherry and red wine notes from the Napa finish. The finish is long and warming, with oak spice, honeyed sweetness and a touch of chocolate.
