Gold of Mauritius Dark Solera 5 Years (70cl)

A dark rum from Mauritius, made by the solera method and aged for five years in casks that previously held bourbon and Portuguese whisky. It is a deep amber colour. The nose is rich, with vanilla and chocolate leading, then tropical fruit and a light smoky touch from the wood. The palate is velvety, balancing sweetness and spice, with caramel, nutmeg and cinnamon and a little black pepper for liveliness. The finish is long and gently spiced. It can be sipped neat or used as the base of a cocktail.
