This is a 53 year old Glenburgie from Gordon & MacPhail, distilled in 1967 and filled into a refill sherry hogshead. It was bottled at a cask strength of 48.8%.
Released as Archive Release #3709, it is a rich, old-school single malt that remains layered and complex. Stewed raisin and autumnal spice show on the nose. The palate is sweet and smooth, with ripe blackcurrant, dark honey, toasted almonds, mature oak and rich fruitcake.
The finish is full and long, with lingering mixed nuts.
