This is a Glentauchers single malt from Speyside, distilled in 1979 and matured for 43 years in a single refill American oak hogshead. It comes from Gordon & MacPhail's Private Collection, a range selected personally by the Urquhart family, and was bottled at a cask strength of 57.7%.
The nose shows orange zest, green apple and exotic fruits, with Sicilian lemon, lime and charred oak. The palate is smooth and bright, with mango, pineapple and guava, roasted nuts and a faint herbal edge. The finish is medium in length, with syrupy pears and mature oak.
