A Pinot Nero from Gumphof in Alto Adige, showing a transparent ruby colour. It opens with small red fruits, cherry and raspberry, alongside floral hints and light spicy notes. On the palate it is fresh, with present but fine tannins and a balance that favours drinkability and depth over opulence. Serve at around 16-18 °C and allow it to breathe in the glass for a few minutes. It suits cured meats, white meat, mushrooms and soft cheeses, as well as more savoury dishes.
