Hakushu 12 Year Old Suntory 100th Anniversary is a limited edition Japanese single malt in a 70cl bottle. It marks 100 years of the House of Suntory with a new label design.
It was made at Suntory's mountain distillery in the forests of Mt. Kaikomagatake, using peated spirit softened with pure mountain water.
The nose has toasted barley, a seed and nut loaf, chopped almonds and a little barrel char, with hints of milk chocolate and dried grass. The palate brings more fruit but is not sweet, staying rich, herbaceous and grassy with a waft of smoke. The finish is fairly short, with orange peel and a touch of minerals.
