Hakushu 18 Year Old Single Malt Japanese Whisky (75cl, 43%)

Hakushu 18 Year Old is a single malt Japanese whisky from Suntory's Hakushu Distillery, set in the woods at the foot of Mt. Kaikomagatake in the Southern Japanese Alps. The distillery was founded in 1973 under Keizo Saji. Every whisky in the bottle has matured for at least eighteen years in oak. It is reduced with Japanese spring water and bottled at 43% abv (86 proof), in a 750ml bottle. The colour is deep gold. The nose offers ripe pear, dried mint and oregano with a hint of smoke. On the palate it is silky, with jasmine, mango, quince and menthol. The finish is long and pleasantly smoky, with a gentle bitterness.
