Hakushu Distillery Exclusive is a Japanese single malt in a 30cl bottle, made at Hakushu in the Southern Japanese Alps in Yamanashi.
Suntory founded the distillery in 1973, set among forests and mountains at 700 metres above sea level. Its whisky is described as green and fresh.
The nose has dense honey, ripe peach and apricot, grapefruit peel and roasted grains, with cinnamon, toasted oak and mint. The palate adds smoky, vegetal peat, dried apricot and black pepper. The finish is smoky and fruity, with honeydew, toasted grains and oak char.
