Hancock's President's Reserve is a single barrel Kentucky straight bourbon distilled at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. Introduced in 1991, it is named for Hancock Lee, who with his brother Willis established the Leestown settlement on the Kentucky River in 1775. It uses Buffalo Trace Mash Bill Number 2, a high rye recipe with an approximate 12 to 15% rye, and is matured in new charred oak. Each bottle comes from a single barrel, at 88.9 proof (44.45%). The nose is light and sweet, with vanilla, sweet corn, caramel, toasted pecan and a hint of mango and papaya. The palate brings honey, cherry, cinnamon, oak and gentle spice, and the finish is smooth and warm.
