Hatozaki 12 Year Old Umeshu Cask is a Japanese single malt from the Kaikyō distillery in Akashi, bottled at 46% ABV.
The whisky was aged for twelve years in casks that previously held umeshu, the traditional Japanese liqueur made with ume plums.
On the nose it shows sweet plum, vanilla and a hint of almond. The palate is silky, balancing mellow sweetness with a light acidity, and the long finish carries ripe fruit and gentle spice.
