Hatozaki Finest Japanese Whisky (75cl, 40%)

A blended Japanese whisky from the Kaikyo Distillery in Akashi, Hyōgo, bottled at 40% in a 75cl bottle. It is named after the Hatozaki Lighthouse, which has guided sailors since 1657. The blend contains a minimum of 40% malt whisky, with grain whisky making up the rest. It is aged in ex-bourbon, ex-sherry and native Mizunara oak casks. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring. The tasting notes describe soft cereal, blossom and light honey on the nose, with citrus and a whisper of vanilla. The palate is malt-sweet, with stone fruit, gentle oak and a hint of Mizunara spice, and the finish is clean and elegant.
