This is an 11 year old Campbeltown single malt from Hazelburn, distilled in 1997 and bottled in 2009 by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as cask 126.1. It came from a single first-fill sherry butt, which gave 207 bottles at 46% ABV in a 70cl size. The whisky is triple-distilled and unpeated.
The Society describes it as a combination of substantial cask influence and light spirit. The nose offers caramelised chestnuts, liquorice root, treacle, prunes and tea chests. The palate brings marmalade, fruitcake and tea-smoked duck. The finish is long, warm and complex, with a tingling sensation.
