Heaven's Door Ascension is a small-batch Kentucky straight bourbon from Heaven's Door Distillery in Pleasureville. It is bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered, in a 75cl bottle.
Each batch is built from ten barrels or fewer, blending two mashbills: one of 76% corn, 15% rye and 9% malted barley, the other of 70% corn, 25% rye and 5% malted barley. Both are aged for at least five years.
The nose offers toasted oak, caramel, vanilla bean and baking spice. The palate brings toffee, baked bread, banana, brown sugar and honey, then nutmeg, cinnamon and soft pepper. The finish is warming and long, with brown sugar, candied ginger, clove and charred oak.
