Heaven's Door Straight Rye is a Tennessee whiskey created in a church in Tennessee by Bob Dylan and Marc Bushala, founder of Angel's Envy Bourbon. The brand is named after Dylan's 1973 song Knocking on Heaven's Door, and the bottle shows the welded iron gate he made at his Black Buffalo Ironworks studio.
The rye matures in toasted, cigar-shaped barrels from the Vosges in France.
The nose is dark rye with mint, baking spices, aniseed and fresh pepper around a creamy centre of cake and vanilla ice cream. The palate brings nutty toffee, chocolate, apple pie, orange peel, salted butter and nougat. The finish is gentle and slightly juicy, with mint lingering.
