Heaven's Door Straight Rye Whiskey Finished in Vosges Oak is a rye from Heaven's Door Spirits, the brand co-founded by Bob Dylan. The mashbill is 95 percent rye and 5 percent malted barley, and the whiskey spends around six to seven years in new charred American oak.
A further year of finishing follows in toasted cigar barrels made from French Vosges oak, air dried for three years. It is bottled at 92 proof (46%) in a 750ml bottle.
On the nose, expect vanilla custard, allspice and pepper over caramel. The palate brings graham cracker, brown sugar and assertive rye spice, and the finish moves from rye spice to toasted marshmallow and vanilla.
